Frequently Asked Questions

What is the specialty of Classic Heritage Golf Tours?
Classic Heritage Golf Tours organizes golf tours for groups to Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. We specialize in custom tours to the top golf courses (and some unique discoveries). And we specialize in classic accommodations—castles, manor houses, historic hotels and inns—all well-known by us and well-located to enhance the travel experience. The golf courses and accommodations all have been personally selected and checked by our management and associates.

How long have you been in business?
Over twenty years. Management has been in the travel business for more than 30 years in Britain and the United States.

What type of groups do you plan tours for?
Groups are organized by our clients. They can be golf partners and friends. Often groups from golf clubs get together. We plan tours for work, school and corporate groups, families, or any bunch of people that want to get together for golf and travel. Quite often several couples travel together. Some of our tours have pre-set itineraries and are designed for travelers to join with others.

Can non-golfers go on tours?
Absolutely! Non-golfers often travel with golfers. They tour and do sight-seeing during the day when the others are playing golf and we help with sightseeing plans for the non-golfers. Tours are planned for the ultimate travel enjoyment of golfers and non-golfers alike.

What are the group sizes?
Tours can be for any group from two people on up. An ideal travel group is eight to 16 with all golfers or a mixture of golfers and non-golfers. Much larger groups can be accommodated as well, such as corporate conferences.

What is included in a tour?
All accommodations (in classic, pre-selected historic hotels, inns, manor houses, castles). All golf with guaranteed tee times. All ground travel and transfers (either fly-drive or escorted). Full Scottish, Irish, English or Welsh breakfasts, and some other meals. Travelers are provided with insider touring tips, a personalized travel kit with full instructions and vouchers. Airline travel to and from the destinations is not included, but can be arranged. Add-on stays in London, Dublin, and Edinburgh are popular.

Do you arrange golf tours to anywhere but Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales?
We specialize in only those destinations, and the islands around the British Isles and Ireland. This allows Classic Heritage Golf Tours to really know the courses, accommodations and the things to do and see.

How far ahead should a tour be booked?
It is best to book at least six to nine months ahead to assure the desired schedule and guaranteed tee times, but tours can often be booked up to just two weeks ahead. If a group desires to play St Andrews Old Course with guaranteed tee times, it is advised to book by August 15 the year before travel, but even at a later date there are ways to get tee times on the Old Course. Some other courses accept only limited play, so tee times must be booked well in advance.

What is the best time to do a golf trip to Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales?
The high season and the best weather is June through August, but there is good golfing weather from April to October. Groups are encouraged to plan tours during the shoulder seasons (April – May and September – October) and even in the months of November through March. There are fewer tourists, accommodations and tee times are more available, and prices are much lower. [However, if planning to golf between November and March, golfers must be prepared for the elements. We'll advise you how to do that.]

What is the cost of a golf tour?
Our goal is to offer great experiences at value prices—very good values—while meeting the needs of the travelers. We can plan for a range of accommodations, styles of courses, types of transportation, and times of the year. All of these elements of the tour affect the costs. Sample tours are shown on this website for each region, with examples of pricing. If you give us your needs and desires, we will be pleased to make a proposal with absolutely no obligation, and we will include pricing options if you like.
